So impressed by our experience working with Ross - the quote was very competitive and included a drone survey (which we were keen to have covered as we heard there were roof works required on the property we were trying to purchase). The report was very detailed and included lots of photos. We were then able to book in a time for a follow up call the following week - Ross took the time to answer all of my questions, looked over additional documentation whilst we were on the call and provided really clear explanations for the various issues identified and potential fixes required. Whilst he ultimately advised us not to proceed with the purchase, I now have a much better understanding of the causes of damp and subsistence and would not hesitate to work with Ross again whenever we do find our next property. I used Surveying People for a L3 Buildings Survey and as it was my first time in using them, I was slightly nervous as the communication at the start was not always there such as not acknowledging the money transferred to their bank account. I had to pay in advance of the survey and once the survey was conducted, I had to wait for 6 working days before receiving the report. The Survey Report made up for the wait as it was very detailed and contained many photographs of the issues identified. The long list of costs to make the property right assisted me in budgeting and which I raised with the seller. The roof photographs taken by a drone were very good, listing the issues with the roof and chimney, as well as stains visible in the joints of the guttering. I am pleased with the report and had a half hour consultation with the surveyor who informed me in the detail the issues and answering questions that I had in mind. Overall, I would recommend them and would use them again.

Drone survey helped me identify issues with the roof that saved me money, this deducted from the purchase price of the property. They did an excellent job for the RICS Level 3 report but it's a 4-star just due to slight mismanagement of expectations. They promised a post-survey call but I have yet too hear back about it. It hasn't been a full week since receiving the report so perhaps they're out of office. I'll update this review later if so.
Update: Got a call from Alam the day after this review and he kindly helped me with my queries. Soon after, Ross got back to me with a structural engineer recommendation. I'm satisfied with their service and have updated my rating in response.

Great experience with Ross and Syed as surveyors for a Level 3 survey and an energy assessment. Ross was very patient in responding all my questions as an anxious first time buyer, was quick in booking the inspection and provided the report in a punctual manner. The energy assessment didn't require a new certificate so Syed sent some notes via email. Both took the time to go through the findings with me via phone. Ross from Surveying People carried out a pre-purchase Level 3 survey for us. He did a really thorough job, and was incredibly helpful throughout the process. We needed additional information not traditionally part of the survey that the insurance company had enquired about, which he answered at no extra cost. After the report was ready, he took more time to go through all my questions in a follow-up call. He explained what everything meant, what the options were, how serious or not various things were. It was so helpful and gave us a lot of peace of mind that we weren't biting off more than we could chew, plus a small laundry list of touch-ups that we'll need to do as and when we take ownership! He was responsive and kind throughout, and I'd happily recommend him / Surveying People. They weren't the cheapest option we were quoted, but my partner and I really feel like we got excellent value for money with this service.
